Chrome and ownCloud Immediate Security Updates
By: Eric Vicencio
There are two cybersecurity issues we wanted to bring to your attention. Google Chrome and ownCloud have both separately identified urgent security issues that may leave you and your data vulnerable. If you use either program, we recommend immediately updating your applications.
Google Chrome
Google Chrome is actively working on a zero-day patch and is urging customers to update to Chrome Version 119.0.6045.199/.200 immediately.
What is a zero-day patch? This means that Google Chrome’s developers have zero days to patch the security flaw as they were unaware of the vulnerability until hackers exploited it. This makes it even more urgent that you take action to update, as your current software may be vulnerable to an attack.
Eccezion Technology customers should get this patch automatically, but to check manually, open the Chrome browser, then select Settings, and About Chrome. You will receive the update automatically. Here’s a shortcut chrome://settings/help
ownCloud
If you subscribe to ownCloud, you may be aware that they are actively working on a fix for a critical security vulnerability that has been identified. ownCloud has released recommendations to patch the application, so if you utilize this application, we recommend applying these patches immediately.
If you have any questions about either of these updates or other security concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Eccezion Technology experts.
